oil leak since oil change to 5-30 GM...

Since ive had new oil in the car, which is GM's fully synthetic 5-30, ive got a pretty noticeable oil leak?

any idea's where it could be coming from? is this a common problem?

    cheers chris

    Rocker cover?
Gasket gone on the steel breather pipe that runs from the bottom right of the rocker cover?
When i tried 5-30 my rocker cover started leaking after a few hundred mile.

ive heard that 5w30 can be too thin which is why it may be leaking when getting warm,i think most ppl use 10w40 and dont get leaking

Yep..5w30 is to thin. I had oil leaks and smoking probs with 5w30. Go back to 10w40 and you will have no probs.

shouldn't be too thin as iirc 5-30 is what vaux recommend? i'd say the gasket/o-ring on your sump plug has worn and you didn't change it when u changed the oil?

may be what vx recommend and sell but it always leaks out of both my turbos. Chris at Regal told me to use the semi synth 10-40 and the turbos last a lot longer now. Still eventually leak but doesnt stink like the fully synth does

is fully synth 5w40 just as bad, as i used this and since, i have had a small oil leak, around the gearbox, i think it is coming from the crankcase breather.

i think i might try some semi-synth 10w40 when i chhange the turbo back over and see if that fixes the problem.
