    African Gray Parrot

My African Gray Parrot had escaped when i got home from work today, dont know how it got out its cage. ive left a few windows open and the back door and put its perch and some food in the back garden hoping it'll (or someone else bird) will land on it. im not holding my breath tho. it was 16 weeks old when i got it in jan so its not really that old. anyone have any tip how i can tempt it back. this isnt a joke

yeah its all in the garden. talked to a vet and she said they dont go far from home, so hopefully he'll fly back, but she also said they get attacked by other birds

Yes, they can get attacked by crows/magpies. I will keep my fingers crossed he/she comes home soon. He might 'roost' in the trees when it gets dusky though, so dont expect him to appear when its dark.

Sorry to hear of your loss

Our Sun Conur has escaped a couple of time but never while we've been out, as she only ever flies around the house she can only manage 100m or so before she's ****ed so it was a quick rescue from some trees nearby. Despit the attempts for fredom we still don't clip her, bird's gotta fly IMO.

Being a juvenile I doubt it would of flown to far before she/he got tired, are their any obvious roosting sites near by ? Maybe leave your missus at home in case it return under it's own steam, and you have a walk around to see if you can hear it ?

    Good luck mate !

nah its not home yet, she has been round putting posters up in the local pet shops and vets all day. she is convinced some one has got in and taken it. the story so far is - the window was open but closed over and the bird hadnt been out the cage so it couldnt of been left unlocked when i came home from picking the son up the cage door was open and the window was wide open. if its been stolen atleast we have a bit of a chance of getting it back as loads of people know we have it. her brother babysits some times and i wouldnt put it past him or 1 of his mates as you can set your watch as to what time she goes out (3 o'clock to shcool and is back for 4)
