Engine emission light on Mk4 1.7CDTI

    Hello

Was hoping someone on here would be able to help before I took the car along to a garage for diagnostics.

My car is a 53 plate 1.7 CDTI with approx 82k on the clock.

Its been running fine but the Engine Emissions light illuminates intermittently. When it come on there seems to be a little less power.

The next time I use the car it may go out and be fine for a while before coming on again.

Reading the owners manual it says that there may be a problem with the emissions. I was thinking maybe the EGR valve or solenoid may need replacing? or would a clean suffice? (just been looking at the 1.9 CDTI EGR cleaning guide)

    All suggestions welcome!

    Regards

    Tom

    Same Here

I have the same issue. I did take it to a mechanic who put a fault reader on it and the problem was with the turbo. He suggested that the Turbo needs cleaning out. Anyone got any idea if this is easy to do yourself or do you have to dismantle the whole thing?
    Cheers
