    Sorry, another air con question...

Right, I haven't had air con before, but when I had my accident in 08 they changed these bits:

    Air conditioning condenser (£175)
Air con fan and motor assy (£97.50)
    Air con fan cowl (£23.95)
    Air con recharge (£75.00)

Soooo if I press the button for the air con to come on, do I have my cold vents blowing at the same time, and how long until its supposed to come through chilly?

I turned it on this morning, left it about 7/8 mins as I drove along, but it didn't feel any colder than when I just have the vents on cold.

Sorry, its been hot today and Im having a thicky moment

Within that time you should have felt the vents blowing colder air. Yes maybe the cabin wouldn;t be like a fridge but it would be starting to feel the effects

With the AC on and the engine idling you should hear the compressor cutting in and out every 30 seconds to a minute (could be different but it will be quite often)

Compressor should run the whole time the AC button is on with MK4s.

Unless the gas charge is low, then it won't run at all.

With my car running and already fully up to temp etc today, it took about 20 seconds from pressing the button to having freezing air come out the vents.

If you look at the compressor you should see the centre of the pulley spin when it's switched on.

Engine tone deffo changed when I switch it on, so looks like the cheeky buggers didn't charge it after all...but it's not something I can exactly prove is it?

I really had a good listen today and when I switched on the aircon I could hear the whining noise for which indicated 'a working A/C' LOL. I think I may had a leak only I could smell amonia on the drive where my motor was last night, so I moved it of so I didn't put the family at risk of getting polluted! LOL
