MPG and other questions - MK4 GSi z20let

Hey guys new to this forum, seems pretty good ....Found it through google. Im on the hunt of a black GSi MK4 , but just had a few questions....

    1. Driven sensibly off-boost can they really hit 32-34mpg? & If so is that motorway driving only? What is the average in town?
    2. Is it true that the turbos on the z20let need changing every 60,000? (I know the LEH turbo is a straight swap tho)
    3. How many miles is the LET block good for?

    Cheers

    1. I get 31mpg combined, not worrying about trying to run off boost and with a TMS stage 3 map
    2. Yeah that sounds about right, i changed mine at 70k for a VXR unit
    3. Mine is on 90k and going strong

I found that when mine was tuned I got slightly better MPG and return around 30-32mpg.

The turbo may last forever or might last a few weeks. It all depends on how they were treated etc. Mine went at just under 100k.

Same with the block. Look after it and dont let it run lean and the block will last forever.
The truth is always the truth even if you haven't realised it yet...

1: 25mpg around town if you're lucky / 31mpg roughly combining both town & A road driving / 38mpg if you sit at 58mph on the motorway for 400miles.

2: Rubbish, look after the turbo, let it warm up & cool down and don't drive it like you stole it every 5 mins and it will last as long as you want it.

3: Depends how you drive, if you're one of these people who has to prove to everyone how fast you are then you might get 70k out of it if you drive normally then you can double that figure, 140k. Things will always go wrong though those things are the block itself.

    Hope that helps.

    1. I get around 30 extra urban driving

    2. I'm on 76k and still on standard turbo and doesnt use any oil Only use the best synthetics in mine though. But oil seems a very controversial topic on here!

    3. No idea, but I guess its like any enegine as long as it's looked after then it'l be fine
