    Newbie overwhelmed with ICE

    Hi guys,

I'm lookin to upgrade my audio this summer,
However, I'm a bit puzzled as to what I need.

Most threads are about self installation, however i'd most likely take it to the specialists therefore I would appreciate if you could give me advice as to what i need to buy and what they expect me to have before i take it to them to fit.

budget around £250-300 so just a basic upgrade
    car: 2005 Astra sxi 1.6 5door.

i saw this and was wondering if it would suffice http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/prod...00_p-23125.htm

so i'd be lookin for speakers, sub, and amp? or something else?

    regards!

depends on what your after.. if your after loud or in car bass. and to be completely honest id never buy a system brand new. for £250 - £300 id just get a sub and amplifier. standard astra door speakers are not to bad to be honest. i replaced mine. they are good but for the sake of it i should have left my standard 1's in due to the headache it caused. if your after in car bass id suggest fusion or vibe. there not majorly powerful so they would keep you happy if your after a bit of noise. if your after something that is loud and can be heard a street away id suggest JL Audio personally. i have two JL Audio W3's in a high output box. there only rated at 300wrms ( the higher the "louder" kind of thing ) but they are underrated. also have a audiobahn amp to power them up with aswell. im from Bradford so if your from around here feel free to have a listen. im selling my kit for £250 only because i have other plans for the car with the money

thanks for the advice, i'll shop around.

I'm from herts unfortunately so wouldn't be able to have a listen, though
if your selling any parts online (ebay etc) sent me your seller name in case
    i'm interested

one more question, with regard to watts so the more watts it has the more power? also what's the downside with 6x9 some people say they are pointless?

i'm thinking of leaving the front speakers as they are but getting 6x9s at the back?

I like my bass nice an heavy, maybe not so much from down the street but enough to turn you head!

no probs. i had mine on ebay but not going to put them on again. there on the sales items in here somewhere. i personally wouldnt bother with 6x9's. i took my parcel shelf off so thebass travels a bit more. its hard hitting. turns heads for sure. id leave the standard speakers and just put the sub and amps in but its up to you really. personal taste really
