ICE in the new fiesta, any experts?

Ok so basically I have a 09 zetec s on order

    As shown here:

Should have it in 3-5 weeks, when i get it I want some ICE but when I called halfords they said i would need a new head unit in order to put in a subwoofer so before i even look at the subwoofer im looking at £400 worth of changes (including the new head unit)

Is this really necessary, if there is no output can't something be bridged to allow the output to be sent to the subwoofer?

Whats a new car without deep bass ay?

From what I know of Fords, you probably won't need to upgrade the standard door speakers as the 5x7's in them are very good, very good mid range/bass and vocals, may well be worth putting some Dynamat or something behind the speakers to increase door mass and reduce road noise

You can get RCA converters, which basically convert a speaker terminal into an RCA thus allowing you to get sounds to an external amplifier for a subwoofer

I didn't even know they did adaptor plate to change the stereo's in those new Fiesta's yet!

Anyway there will be no outputs on the headunit but you can do the same as the guys with the MK5's and use a speaker to RCA adaptor so you can have your sub. If you haven't get the stuff yet maybe even think about a amp with a high level input?

Gonna move this too as it's no astra or even vauxhall related

Fiestas mk6's have the headunits that are normally separated into tiers and mk7's have stereos moulded into a panel with the heater vents and involves cutting the dash, and then fitting an adaptor supplied by Autoleads as I think they're the only people who supply them ( could be wrong though )

Thats good news as I like the look of the new head unit. So its not looking at being that expensive, in that case I won't go halfords as they obviously don't know what they are talking about. Cheers for that guys I appreciate it.
