just fitted my vxr turbo and cooling mod

    what a day!

    i started a 1pm and finished a 11pm

i came accross a couple of hurdles. you guessed it a snapped stud at the thermostat and the cooling mod needed a slight adjustment.

i managed to drill the stud out and had to bend the pipe that goes along the front of the head to avoid the intercooler to throttle body pipe. also 1 of the hoses that came with the cooling mod needed rerouting.

i had to replace the oil return pipe too as the old one leaked and now the new one leaks too lol. where is bolts onto the turbo there is a slight bit of seapage even with a new gasket . tomorrow i'm going to double check all the bolts and see how everything is.

been a quick drive tonight and all seems well. boosts fine and smooth and no strange noises.

time to get a new fmic and stage 2 on the ipf

    me too! lol

tbh i think i just need to tighten up the oil return pipe bolts. fingers crossed thats all it is!

think i'm going to remap the car too with the ipf now i have the vxr turbo fitted. they have different maps for the vxr turbo. should put me around 240bhp 278ft/lb

wont be doing this unless i get a result with the oil leak

the preformed pipe from the top of the rad to the expansion bottle.
it looked like it was meant to go along the side of the battery and then go right towards the bottle.
i had to run the pipe behind the headlamp and onto the bottle.

I've just had the VXR turbo fitted to my car & the cooling mod too, but I am replacing all pipes, preformed or not, with silicone hoses.

I just need to find out what size pipe to put on from the top of the rad to the expansion tank, because both ends are different sizes.

    Nice job though mate.
It should boost a bit stronger now, but don't think you'll see much bhp increase until you get it remapped.

i think the top rad pipe is a 8 mm outlet and the coolant tank is 6 mm.

i've not measured them just having a guesstimate

^^^^Yep and then the pipe clips on to the side of the water bottle and then goes to the expansion bottle
