oil problem mayb something more serious??? please help

i have a mk4 z16xe, a couple of weeks ago i fitted a straight through stainless steel centre section everything was good at first but i started to notice a sort of well i would say petrol kind of smell but i couldnt say for definite i throught it mayb just a little unburt fuel in the exhaust last weekend i also checked my oil and topped it up only a little to the top mark. a college at my work place said to me about a bit of smoke he had noticed coming from my exhast i checked it and he was right its only a small amount and its only very high in the rev range. i thought it mite be burning a little oil?

so today i checked my oil and there was virtually nothing in it has only covered around 90 miles since it was full ive looked for oil leaks but cant find any i also checked the spark plugs today and they were black which suggests either bad ignition which i dont think it is or burning oil?

please please dont say head gasket i dont think i could handle that for my beloved astra but is there anything else i should check>>>/??? please please help

Smoke or condensation? You'll see much more condensation with a catback exhaust as the water (the by-product of the cat) doesn't get trapped in the silencers as easily.

cant really afford an engine rebuild it does overfuel slightly its quite heavily modded its got a dbilas induction kit its had the resonator remover and the throttle body polished so it sucks alot of air and therefor alot of fuel obviously when you lift off it will backfire in first and sometimes 2nd. i do not have an egr fitted either so i dont know if emmisions light would come on without it.

do you think a variable fuel regulator would help?

Is it s Dbilas Flowmaster you have?

Someone may correct me here, but I have heard that the Flowmaster can cause the inlet temperatures to be too high, thus damaging the piston/piston rings. This put me off getting one.

If this is correct, that would explain why your car is burning so much oil.
