I've got a 1999 Astra 1.8 auto with 106,000 miles on the clock. I'm just wondering what sort of mileage I am likely to achieve before the large repair bills start! How strong are these engines/gearboxes (it's the earlier version of the 1.8 with 115ish bhp)?
I change the engine oil/filter every 4 months (10,000 miles) and have recently changed the cam belt, aux belt, water pump and radiator.
I'm covering around 35,000 miles a year, so the mileage is quickly rising! The question is, should I replace the car now (before everything breaks), or hang on for a while?
