How are the Bumpstrips on a mk4 3 door removed?

I have searched and searched and there are so many answers
I would like to know the definitive guide. Pictures would be FANTASTIC!
Are they easy to come off? and get back on?
Is there any risk of snapping anything when removing/replacing them?
What's the best method or technique for successful removal?

    Thanks a lot,
    Dean

This is how I thought they were removed
However I'm a bit cautious about snapping anything
I might just give it a go

Just a thought, you mentioned they're not expensive?
Where can you buy them from?
Perhaps they can be bought, smoothed and primed ready to paint?
