    Blowing boost pipes????

Jus a quick 1 really, a few weeks ago i blew a turbo pipe that goes from turbo to intercooler off.

Fitted it back on and it came off straight away on boost!!

After getting some mikalor style clamps which i may add are done up 'F' tight it blew off again.

Im using 90 degree Samco hosing with Strong Alloy piping to join the 2.

They been on the car for Nearly 2 years with no problems and now its just started to have a problem and before i was only using standard VXR jubilee clamps!!!

Iv made sure they're grease free when fitting again but no joy!!!

Any ideas to stop them coming off?????

I dont have a boost gauge but dont think its boosting any different though.

This happened to me on several occasions.

Mikalor clamps are superb, hence don't change them. What made the difference, was spending extra time cleaning the inside of the hoses. Just wiping them out won't get all the oil residue out, you need to use a cleaner.

Once cleaned, run your finger inside the hoses, which should grip against your finger. Remember to clean around the inlet/outlet of the intercooler, metal connecting pipes as well, as these will have oil residue on them.

Refit, and tighten all the way. Mine haven't moved since.

I think im gonna try and roughen up or groove the alloy pipe joints and see what happens.

Il give brake cleaner a try but i can believe boost is stronger than the mikalor at the moment lol. Its got a 10mm bolt on the clamp and they were seriously done up tight!!!
