    Starting Problems

Astra 1.4 16v only starts sometimes, and when it don't, you've got to put your foot down on the accelerator and turn the key, then it starts and sometimes it don't spark up at all. I have recently changed the spark plugs and also bought a new coil pack..does anyone know what causes this.

I have a similar problem, i tested my battery with a voltmeter. With the engine off it was 10.6. But with the engine running it was 14.something.
Does this mean my battery is on its way out or not?

    p.s sorry for hijacking lol

From what i have read on here through searching, it could possibly be battery, alternator, fuel pump or fuelpump relay. Could possibly be fuel pump as you have to hold the accelerator down. Maybe someone else could elaborate on this?

Also i read if you put ignition on, leave for 10-15 seconds, hold down clutch then start to see if it starts easier, but don't know what this is about as that was the last post on the subject. Which is abit of a bummer.

test the battery it should be around 12v if its lower than that try swapping it for a good battery see if it works properly then.

if pushing your foot down on the accelerator starts it then there could be a slight fuel leak letting the fuel drain out of the pipes, give it a good run and look for any wet patches around the injectors and fuel unions.
