    MP's and their spending

Let me get this right, these MP's have spent loads of the Tax payers money on things they were not meant too. They get found out and say sorry........ and some will pay it back........

Is it me or is this fraud and they are getting away with it? How is it any difference to benefit fraud?

Afraid it isn't fraud Mr Guest, because the rules that govern the expenses allowed all those claims to be valid.

As they would say hate the game not the player.

However i do think it is a disgrace, my MP has been claiming for up keep of his bloody moat around his 13th century stately home!!!

The sooner the rules are changed the better, at least the line in the sand will be re-drawn!

Do they do their own accounting and is it checked before its put in?

I would put in every receipt too and let an accountant say yes or no.

They are doing nothing different than most people do/would do.

I know loads of people that claim for stuff like travel, wear and tear on clothes etc (Not quite the same amount as the MP's though )

They are sticking to the rules. If the rules are wrong then they need changing.

claiming £16k for your mortgage when you have no mortgage is a bloody piss take, and in my opinion should be answerable for it.

Yes you can put things through a business, but you are still accountable for your accounts even if an accountant does your books. If you get pulled by the VAT or TAX man there is still a chance you could go to prison for being dishonest.

I appreciate they were within the rules but I feel something more than sorry is required from some of them.

Claiming £16k for your mortgage when you have no mortgage is fraud as far as I can see.

I would tell the papers to bugger off if it was me. Not breaking rules so what's the problem.

Fight the rules not the people.

I would like to shake the hand of the person who 'leaked' it to the newspaper in the first place.

Its a joke some of the things are claiming for IMO

    Depends where it was.

If it was in a chandler in a room with high ceilings (20 foot odd in stately homes) then you would need a man in to do it so probably would cost £100.
