Smile MK4 owners - show me your cold air feeds

    Hi,

After replacing the radiator on my Coupe, I couldnt use the original induction tubing as I had to cut it up into bits the remove it. (very satisfying as it had pi55ed me off once before!)

Anyway, I bought some Pipercross cold air feed piping. On my old Corsa, I routed it down past the engine and clipped it to one of the vents on my bumper. So I wanted to do the same thing on the Astra, by routeing it down past the engine and use one of the vents on my front splitter as an intake

However, there doesnt look like theres any room to route it from the filter down there past the engine.

How has everyone else overcome this problem?

i have the Zafira 2.2 DTi (i think.. car was badly damaged) pipe fitted to mine no pic unfortunately, its slightly larger than the Vec C pipe aswell we measured it against my mates and it's a good half inch wider...

be carefull how low you put your cold air feed though otherwise your going to sook up alot of water and going by the way the weather has been we aint in for much of a summer this year so that could be alot of water being dragged into your engine

Cheers guys, I'll get a Vec c intake.

Thats another thing - looking at the pic above, my car has never has a separate air-con fan?

    Mine goes thru the headlight.

Ive got a temp sensor in the top box on the inlet manifold. In traffic the temperature sits 3 degrees above outside temp, when driving with my lights off its the same as outside and with the lights on its 0.5 degrees up so not bad. The veccy c pipes and others still get air coming over the top of the rad so intake temps rise a bit because of that and the curves in the pipes slow airflow
It would definitely go better with an engine in it

    nope not quite correct there

some later models just had the 1 fan but it was a heavy duty one

on my original engine (8v) I had a piece of drainpipe downpipe running the full length of the rad as the intake lol - bodgetastic !!! it worked tho
