Thumbs Up Astra MK4 problem with bumper...........

I drive a SRI Astra with the Irmcher factory fitted skirts and front and rear splitters on it.

Im looking to change the front bumper, im looking to take the front splitter off the car but its attached to the bumper with two screws which are easy enough removed. But its bonded/glued on to the main bumper.

Is their any way off taking the splitter off without damaging it.

    Thanks

Not really, it's be easier and better to sell on as a whole bumper.

You could try using a cheese wire and slide it between the bumper and splitter

    Ah, Carefully then.

You'll have to cut the bonding stuff with a stanley knife to get it off the bumper. then clean it up as best you can.

It depends what it's been bonded on with, as to how difficult it is.

Before I start trying to take it off with a stanley knife, are there any other ways?

Also how much are these splitters to buy (genuine irmsher)?

Just wondering how much to sell it for 2nd hand.

I've found one here for £339 brand new. But I don't think you'll get anywhere near that for a second hand one.

As for the removal, (I don't know if this would work, but its worth a try) you could try and pries apart one end of the spoiler from the bumper and then heat the glue in between with a hairdryer or something (but probably not a heat gun as it will melt the paint)? gentle heat usually softens glue, but I'm not sure what kind of bonder is used for car parts. I hope this helps a little.
