    Recommend me a wax

I have looked a the detailing guide but Im none the wiser about what to use. I use Autoglym SRP and im currently using the Meguiars Stage 3 wax which is a bit crap.

I have no idea about whats good with waxes. Im looking for something easy to use, reasonably hard wearing and will give a decent shine. It must also be cheap(ish). what should i get (out of the list below from the guide or something not listed). links would be appreciated aswell.

Collinite or Pete's 53 I'd say if you want something that lasts well, and I know Pete's is cracking stuff as I have a tub

I recently got hold of some Collinite and I can't rate it highly enough, wish I'd had it years ago instead of messing around with rubbish that lasts a week.

for the prices you have there, some expensive - well worth giving autoglym hd wax a go - can get it in the local frauds for around 40 quid or ebay around 30 delivered.

certainly a surprising wax in terms of what it does, i think you will be pleasently surprised and if impatient its available quite easily on the high street without resorting to specialist companies

some of the stuff on your list is expensive - eg concours.....i have this and after about 3 weeks it starts to lose its round bead. the hd wax beads and sheets off the car like the zymol, im 6 weeks on since one application and the bead is still very very tight - and i have a few waxes in my asenal.

Is that the "double thickness" one, which they recommend for winter? I want someone to try that for me .

zymols good stuff but i don't like them for how picky they are with they're name and people using it etc.

Dodo juice seems to very good stuff. Used a couple of they're products.

Dodo Supernatural is a good wax i've found!

Try visiting here, their based in Pelton, not far from Chester Le Street

    http://www.nedetailing.co.uk

I went a couple of weeks ago and their advice was good. You can even trial any of the waxes on offer. I got a panel pot of Dodo juice light fantastic (£4) and that waxed my Astra H and my wifes Corsa D. I used to use Megs 3 stage but it didn't last more than 2 weeks before needing to re-apply

concours isn't made for it's durability though, it is designed to give the best looking finish in terms of depth and wet look. HD wax is more suited to lighter colours such as silver and white. Yes some of the stuff on the list is expensive, but some is also cheap. When Ben and I compiled the guide, we wanted to offer at least one budget, one mid-range, and one high end product for each colour category.

Sounds good mate, 915 is a very capable and durable wax. If you can strect an extra £9 though, Dodo Orange Crush is leagues ahead

Bye bye VXR Castle Combe Edition - because it's done more laps of Castle Combe than most Bergs have of the Ring
