just thought id add its a z18xe engine. the first time the engine cut out and didnt restart for ages, some ecu and immobiliser faults came back, had it reset, was running fine then it cut out agin and wouldnt restartd, had the ecu reset and it was running fine for a few days so it cut out last night but it restarted immediatly and that when i got the error code p1600 whihc says on the machine the circuit high voltage problem but im not sure, i have to get this fixed asap because im scared opf traveling hihg speeds and the engine cutting out.

Well if you had an X18XEL/1 engine like I suspect you have and not a Z18XE then your error code will be ECU Program Error. The only advise I have is to test the ECU and check earth.
    Terminals
    B48 & earth - Ign off - typical value= 11-14v
    A13 & earth - Ign on - typical value= 11-14v
    B31 & earth - Ign on - typical value= 11-14v
    B32 & earth - Ign on - typical value= 11-14v

ECU case & earth typical value 0 ohms
    Its a jam thing

i wasnt too sure what engine it was but i looked on here at the 1.8s engine and there only 2 types, the z18xe and the other one is for the mk5 only.
