    Fitted my 2.2 Airbox

I managed to get some "car time" today after the lil one was put to bed. So i went out and got cracking with fitting the 2.2 airbox. There are a few bits I need to tidy up but all in all it was a massive success. You can hear the turbo spooling up a lot more now and the car feels faster on boost than it did before. Anyway pics of the progress.

    Before (Standard Z20LET engine bay):

    Airbox cover removed:

    Standard Airbox removed:

    Cross over pipe removed:

    Derestricted 2.2 Airbox base fitted:

2.2 Airbox fitted into place with afm:

2.2 Airbox screwed into place with afm:

    Afm wiring exended and connected:

    All done for the night:

I need to clean the engine bay and replace a few screws that are rusty and I need to fit an oil breather and plumb it into the bottom of the airbox. Also I'm going to run the afm wiring out of sight as I don't like it going over the top of the cam cover. I took the car out for a spin and it feels so much stronger when boosting. It doesn't seem to jerk at half throttle any more (that could be down to the new spark plug and the cam cover gasket being sorted). Few more little details and i'll be happy!!!

Well done mate, as soon as i find a resonably priced box il be doing this to mine, iv got my eyes open for a cdti one.
Glad it makes it run better! Can't wait to find out for myself,

But please do me one thing lol

Re-route your power cable, it's just wrong!

It will just make the engine bay look a lot tidier, but obv it's upto you!

    Cheers

Its definately in my opinion a worth while mod, just the extra sound of the turbo spooling up is worth it!!! I'd love to hear it with a cone filter now . Just for you i'll move the power cable

Its on my list of things to do! I'm making a stealth boot build so will be re-routing the power cable anyway.

Thanx for all the positive replys. I hope that you get your airbox soon. Grin factor when you hear the turbo spooling is worth the money alone Windows down and boost! Think I may need to find a tunnel
