Please help my 1.7 cdti cooling system

Can anybody help???....I have a 54 plate 1.7 cdti astra. A few weeks back I was driving down A1 when car cut out due to a hole in a pipe in cooling system. The dip stick had shot out due to pressure and over heating. I filled the car back up with water and managed to get home. I replaced the pipe and the car drives perfect. However, the water is disappearing. There are no typical signs of the head gasket blown i.e. creamy on oil filler lid etc. There is normal power also. There is a noise coming from header tank, either air being sucked in or blown out. Can anybody help please.

You need to put engine coolant in the right quantities with water to ensure the inner pipes etc dont corrode and are protected when the engine gets really hot. Go get some coolant and refill with the correct amounts or you're sure to encounter more problems down the line!

Your water level dropping most likely indicates a leak somewhere in the system, if you can't see anything obvious, your best to take it to a garage to get it checked out. You might wanna do it sharpish though, running the engine without sufficient cooling will knacker it very quickly!

    head gasket

around 5hrs work to do its all the lil gaskets that mount up best to change cambelt,if you have air con its another 1.5 hrs on top, could be around 500-1000 depending on garage if straight foward and head not distorted
