    Removing passengers side seat

I'm looking into the option of removing the passengers side seat to save weight and increase fuel economy but my friend has pointed out that the pretensioner for the airbag is in the seat itself. Would taking out the seat affect the airbag system, and if so, is there any way to prevent the airbag system from being disabled so I can take out the seat?

Thanks very much for your time in advance!

disconnect the battery to start with, remove the seat, unbolt the seat belt pre-tensioner and plug it back in to the car, only when the seat belt's plugged back in re-connect your battery.
if you re-connect the battery without the seat belt pre-tensioner connected the airbag warning light will come on, meaning the airbags won't go off in a crash.
to reset the airbag warning light you have to be connected up to a tech 2

you don't need to disconnect the battery!!!!!

just leave the igntion off for about 30mins (it's acutally much less but the longer the safer)

I guess if I disconnect the pretensioner without waiting 30 mins or disconnecting the battery would set it off?

I'll have to hope it will be quick and easy to put a seat back in in case I need to drive someone somewhere.

putting the seat back in is a 5 min job, its the same as most car parts once you figure out how to take it out putting it back in is simple
