    dti or cdti..

    Hello everyone!

Just signed up as i will soon be the owner of a nice shiny astra van and im quite excited haha, BUT, i have been holding out for a cdti, been checking autotrader and pistonheads daily, but im now thinking why don't i just get a dti, could somebody please explain the difference or give me some pro's and cons?

I realise the cdti has a common rail for the injection system, just not too sure what effect this has on the overall performance/longevity of the vehicle!

    Thanks chaps

are you looking at mk4 vans then? i think the cdti is 100bhp and alot newer engine, but i dout theres much in it between them, just watch out for the deisel pumps going! as they cost a fortune!

get a mk5 van much better

    DTi - Diesel Turbo Injection
CDTi - Common Rail Turbo Injection

They are basically just different developments on how diesel engines inject their fuel, with common rail being the newer of the two technologies.

I've done a quick search and can't find any info on DTi, but below is a link to Common Rail Turbo Injection on Wikipedia.

I've owned both in the mk 4 Astra & there's not much between them performance wise, the cdti is just the newer version, watch out for oil in the header tank which is usually a duff oil cooler.
