    Has Anyone?

    Hey,

    hows everyone?

    I have a Astra Sport SXI Mk5 -

Wanna change the profile on my tyres from 205/55/R16 to 205/50/R16....

Has anyone done this? Took it to a couple of garage's - got mixed reaction - some say there will be a huge gap some say it will be fine - so not sure no more.

Has anyone done this? what does it look like? did it make any difference in the handling? did u get the speedo callibrated?

If anyone has any pics would love to see them.

    cheers

    HH

To be honest. I think you'll hardly notice the difference.

Based on the fact that the circumfrence of the tyre will be smaller you can expect.

    Faster acceleration
    Slightly stiffer ride/handling
    your speedo will over read

Why not go for 195,40,16 super stretched. Looks mint. I had a mk3 golf vr6 and had 8" porsche wheels on the front with 195, 40 ,16s and 9" wheels on the rear with 215,35,16s on. Speedo was probably well out but who gives a shit if it looks good. Ill try and get some pics on. Handle mint too.

You could always go for 17s on a 45 profile tyre mate

The 55 or 50 is a percentage of the width of the tyre. 55% of 205 is about 112mm and 50% is about 102mm. So your car will sit about 10mm lower. Although your tyres are smaller in circumference you wont notice the difference in acceleration and the difference in handling will be slight.

Or try 215/50/16 your speedo will read 1.2 mph over the 205's will make it 2.3 mph over
