    1.9cdti SRI 150 problem *

    Hi

anyone ever had problems with a flywheel?
had mine replaced under warranty with only 15k on the clock on my SRI

Car was making a rattling noise at idle (not overly loud but noticable) at times
Originally vx said it was just normal diesel engine tone
2 months later they replaced flywheel (DMF)

STILL car is making same noise....
Noise goes away when clutch is engaged and moved into gear
Mechanic said thats cause its DMF the flywheel "floats" and thats what causes the noise at idle

Should I take it back to same dealer or get a 2nd opinion with a different dealer?

This is my 1st diesel - is this just normal diesel engine tone that everyone suffers? Could just be being paranoid. Heard this is a common problem with Audi,VW,Seat aswell

    appreciate any comments

    Thanks

    Thanks pal

Yes, I done a search and found its quite a common problem

I'm kinda used to it but it does annoy me from time to time

Who ever thought of a DMF is a genius (not)

My Vectra is exactly the same as you described, and I've been told that is nothing to worry about, as the DMF issue is a rattle at idle that goes away with the clutch dis-engaged.

VX did replace the DMF but it was under warranty thank goodness

    but.........

I can still hear similar noise though. The car drives perfect but the noise makes me paranoid at times.
