    replacing rings

    if i change a piston in a z20let do i need to change the rings or can i get away with just using the old ones

    It would be a little stupid to use the old one's on my opinion mate, i don't see any reason wht you couldn't but if your in there then for the cost of a set of ring's i'd change them (on all 4 piston's obviously)

    Chances are tho, if the piston that your removing is damaged then the ring's will probably be knackered.

    Also, have you checked the bore of that cylinder?, no scoring or anything?

    lol the rings are £40 odd quid off vauxhall per piston the bores seam to be fine no marks at all

    plus i have a spare set off rings and 1 good piston out of another engine

    Well i suspose it depends entierly on the financial situation your in at the moment, if you can't afford it then you can't afford it pal.

    Can you not get the ring's cheaper elsewhere, autovaux ect?

    i've not looked yet to be fair mate but if you do 1 you might as well do the 4. my budget is a bit tight at the moment if i had the money i would be going for a forged bottom end

    Trouble is if you fit new ring's then you have to have the bores honed, otherwise the ring's can't bed in.

    i have been looking for a set of patern rings and everywhere i have contacted have said it a vx only item at the mo, i got a set from vx £25 each not the £40 but i do get trade club
    courtney stage 3 zafira,Mitsubishi evo geek mapped to 389 and 470 lb of torque
