Another example of why lorry drivers shouldn't follow a sat nav

Today whilst driving along a country lane me and a work mate happened upon this:

The agency trucker followed a satnav into single width country lanes (the wing mirrors on our car were touching the hedges at times). After realising that he was going to get into trouble he tried to do a three point turn in the entrance to a farmers field, note the steep incline to the entrance. After reversing up the path the driver tried to turn to the right and come back the way he came but the weight of his trailer pushed him straight forwards and into the embankment and the field behind it. I took the pic after we watched a tractor pull him out. Notice the lower part of his truck missing. Hahaha. Was a good skive in work today.

One of my customers had to get one of there tankers pulled out of a lane after getting stuck.
Anyone notice the rise in incidents since shatnavs have become so common?

Problem is, alot of them, if you change the setting to lorry, all it does is adjust the speeds, not the roads you go on.

You can get dedicated truck satnav which does take the roads into account, but most don't bother cos it's a lot more expensive.

Satnav is undoubtably handy to have... I'd be knackered without mine now! But it's amazing how many people place themselves 100% in the hands of the computer lady on the dashboard - satnav is a navigation aid, it shouldn't take the place of your own eyes and common sense.
