Just Got The Astra Back :( :( :( Feeling Crap

Well, Dropped the astra off for its service this morning, and I asked the guy to check out the strange noise it was makingÖ Turned out to be Brake discs and pads, so Have to fork out £140 for those, Full service is £120 bringing the total to £245 (knocked off £15 for paying cash)

Iíve also been advisedÖ My 2 x rear coil springs have gone, he said it is not an issue, although the car will fail itís M.O.T (which is due in august) but he quoted me £140 for those!
Iím also running low on the 2 front tyres.
    Cambelt will need doing soonish
Tax is due next monthÖ Expensive!
Insurane is due on June (My insurance is £3,100)

Basically, Iím after some adviceÖ How can I make these expenses cheaper? Surely I can source my own coil springs? Or something?
Is there a website that sells tyres cheaper? As I donít fancy budgets, but I may have too.

Iíve never felt so crap about money issues

    Thanks A.O.C,
    Dean

Join AOC get trade prices for vxl parts - (or grab someone from your region to get them for ya )

Then also ask your region buddies to help fit them
You learn, they learn- all fun

    Welcome to car ownership.

I'd suggest getting a local private garage to do the work for you - it'll knock of a lot of the price straight away.

Could do the springs yourself - it's not a difficult job if you take your time.
Try blackcircles.com for tyres - sign up to AOC and you get a discount with them

Likewise on the insurance, if you're an AOC member, you can get a hefty discount with Adrian Flux.

sounds like a good price to me for the parts and the service, but the cheapest way will be to do it yourself mate

well first off try a scrappy for the springs as a temporary measure, and of course try here. if that fails then you might as well get a set of Raceland Coilovers for that price. an other alternative is to become full paid member and get trade at Vaux.
