Question Where do I stand on this...

Right got a bit of a situation here

Basically I ordered a pair of Tyres from a supplier, through work on Friday 17th April, I go in today to cancel the order of the tyres as I didn't need them, and they haven't even arrived here either

Got a message on my phone, saying I have to pay for the costs for returning them to the supplier to confirm the cancellation of the order as there still in transit? I haven't even paid for the tyres, but was given a receipt that didn't stipulate I have to pay the costs for couriers etc...

So, can anyone shed any light on this? Put a blot on the end of a good day really

If you've paid nothing so far, you've nowt to lose by walking away. Stuff 'em (unless of course you want to use that supplier again).

I am pretty sure unless they tell you at the time the order is placed that you have the right to cancel you order if you have got your goods.

Tom, I had a similar problem with a key I ordered from Roy Evans Peugeot. I phoned up the same day that I ordered it, and canceled it
Got a phone call saying that they key had come in, I went skitz and said that I cancelled it, they said sorry you have to have it and pay for it
I sent them a nice letter saying that I had taken legal advise and was not obliged to pay for the key, since I canceled it the same day of order, and also since No money had exchanged hands upon order, i.e no deposit and such
They backed down in the end

There you go then, same situation really. If you need to do the same over the tyres then do it.

lets face it, if you ordered them and the supplying company has sent them, then its down to you if you need to return them

why should they pay twice if you changed your mind?

have a look at their terms and conditions, you should have a copy if you have an account that allows you to order and pay after
