the manifold will fit but thats the least of your worries mate

your Z16XE has the cat built into the manifold whereas the earlier X16XEL has it underneath the car on the front pipe

if ur determined to fit the X16XEL manifold then youll need to fit an earlier X16XEL front pipe with cat too.... you'll also have to fit a threaded boss behind the cat to enable your rear lambda sensor to be plugged in

X series engines only have 1 lambda sensor whereas Z series have 2.

you could also kill 2 birds with 1 stone by fitting an aftermarket sports cat front pipe (available for £230 from www.tuning.co.uk) this would be designed for X16XEL but as youd already have an X16XEL manifold you will "effectively" have an X16XEL exhaust

    Have I lost you yet?

    so its from a Corsa B/Tigra A I assume?

EDIT: on 2nd thoughts i doubt it will seeing as they use different manifold gaskets

    X16XE & X16XEL are interchangeable but the Z16XE has a different shaped gasket/port layout

hi, i have a 2000/Y 1.6 16v sxi and according to car pass it has the z16xe engine and apparantly the manifold that i'm being offered is off a 2003 1.6.16v? but it has the x16xe engine, i find this confusing because i thought that the z16xe was the later of the two engines??

nope youve been misinformed somewhere along the line

X16XE was NEVER used on the Astra - mk3 or mk4

was only used on the Corsa B

The only 1.6 used on the mk4 Astra was X16XEL from 98-00 and Z16XE from 00-04 (also twinport Z16XEP towards the end of the mk4 life)

IF the manifold youve been offered is definitely off a 2003 model then it will be a straight fit - the seller must be clueless as to what the engine actually is

Just make sure its not one of the twinport Z16XEP cos they defo dont fit afaik

from the exhaust or the engine?

in all honesty mate as i said earlier

X16XEL have cat underneath the car so the manifold for this engine would just be a standard cast mani - nowt else

Z16XE feature the cat built into the manifold - you have this ur self so look at your setup
