    Removing Indicator Stalk [Mk5]

Any tips on how to do this???

I pulled, and I pulled, and I twisted, and I broke a nail, and then I pulled some more but still it's on there!

Does anyone know what angle I have to pull? and in what direction... do I need a flat blade screwdriver? etc...

    Many thanks...

funny! I did mine at the weekend and slid a screwdriver down the slot at the bottom!

theres a clip and it needs lifting to remove the stalk, I used a very narrow flat blade (about 1.5mm), unclip and then pull straight out

Must be the bottom then, been 8 months since I did it :P

There's a Howto for it somewhere anyway!

    the way I did it

    a. pull the rubber up and off the stalk out of the way

    b. push stalk up (as in turning right)

    c. slid screwdriver (tiny one) along the bottom of the stalk, theres a groove underneath, below number 1 in your picture

    d. push screwdriver in to release clip/catch

    e. pull stalk out

    Thanks for your replies...

Is the bit which comes off shown by the line in this picture?

Do the two seperate from each other?

Because on mine, it seems as if they are one bit of plastic which is why it's not coming off.

the bit with the number 1 pointing at it pulls out (in the direction of the stalk) of the steering column

the line in your picture is correct but the stalk fits into the column, and you need to pull about 2" (that you can't see) out of a hole in the steering column

they are two bits honest, its just a very tight fit! but you do need to release the clip with a tiny screwdriver (and I'm talking 1.5mm tiny)
