    New Tires

    Hey,

I need new tires for my mk4 Astra SXi

It has standard alloys and I was wondering what kind of tires i need?
I'm unsure what the number/coding means on the side of the tires?

    What do you guys recomend?
What do you have on yours?

I swear by Avon ZZ3's. Awesome grip in dry and wet. Quite pricey I suppose but you certainly get your moneys worth. A friend of mine had them on his 330bhp Impreza STi and he couldn'd fault them at all.

^^^ Thats a good website. Have a look at what cars the tyre are on too. Some people complain the tryes are crap then you see they're driving ridiculously powerful cars that chew up any tyre in a couple of thousand miles.

    lol
I'm just after some 'decent' tires
I've heard toyo and pirelli are good brands?

But i don't want 'the worlds best' tires on a 1.,6 that i use for daily driving. I won't be needing grip at 100mph corners lol

Just decent tires, not budgets tho

Mid range for me, loving my Falken ZE912's, best tyres I've driven in my price range of £50-£60 per wheel fitted and balanced.

    Sizes etc:

    205/50/16 means

    205mm width on the tyre
50 is the tyre 'height' above the alloy in mm I believe
16 is a 16"/16 inch wheel diameter (the diamater of the alloy without tyres)

The letter is a speed rating e.g. V/H though Google will tell you more on those.

The middle number is the profile expressed as a percentage of the width

    so as an example

    215 / 40 / 17

    Width 215mm

    Profile 40% of 215mm (86mm)

    Diameter 17"
