Constant flashing means there are no fault codes stored!

Was the engine management or emissions light on at all?

If so, sometimes a code will not appear with the pedal test but will with a plug in reader and vice versa.

If, however, u just did the pedal test for the sake of it. Then don't worry, there's no codes stored.

Sorry to hijack this thread a little bit, but I have a problem. I keep getting the error code P0136. As far as i know, that is oxygen sensor. Ive now replaced both of them (One on the manifold cat, and one of the front pipe). But, When I give the car a bit of stick, The engine management light comes on again, With P0136 being the only code in memory. Anyone with any ideas as to what this could be? Thanks.

    what engine?

I get a cat and lambda code whenever I use crap supermarket fuel

Sometime if u have a sports cat or decat precat (for turbo owners) this can give false readings

Personally I have a top notch code reader which I just plug in n clear every time it comes on.... not much help i know but just saying!

Hmm...I tend to usually run on BP, Shell or total. BP is on my way to work, So I tend to fill up there when I need to. I havnt used Tescos or anything like that in ages. The engine is a 1.6 8v 2001 Z16SE. Totally standard.

i trust you cleared the codes by disc battery or removing ECU plugs?

you may wanna have the codes cleared correctly with a plug in reader? Maybe ask in the regional forum to see if sum1 will help - only takes about 1min

I did clear it. I used a Bosch KTS 200. Intrestingly now tho, I have 2 error codes that have come up. 1 is P0136, the other is P0420, Anyone know what the second one is?

Edit: I should add, Im not sure if the sensors are the correct ones for my car. One has the same plug, but a different end (not ball end, more like a tube, with loads of holes). and the other, we had to cut and shut the wiring.

well P0420 is Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)

thats the one i get on mine after i use cheap fuel (Morrisons in particular) - having said that it runs a treat on Asda's 95ron.

considering u did a cut n shut on the wiring i wouldnt be surprised if that was the reason
