2.2 Owner needing a cheap mechanic Help !

Been qouted £850 for repair work to my 2.2 Sri.
Im not sure if its a good price or even if everything i have been told needs doing does need to be done.
    I have a rattle between 3-4krpm,
I have been told Timing Chain, Tensioners minimum, most likely need head work doing too as the cams may be out of line now too.
Is anyone handy with a 2.2 which could diagnose and fix the problem for a bit cheaper?
Only had the car 4 flaming weeks if not itll be getting chopped in

The timing chain and tensioner kit is about £130 ish from memory, and if you do the balancer shaft chain whislt the side of the engines off plus the cost of the gasket, your over £200 in parts. Plus an oil change as you have to drop that too and oils not cheap these days....Realistically its 3 hours labour to change the lot so add that in and your looking at quite a bill. Still £800 sounds far to steep.

Theres a guy on z22se.co.uk called benny who does the job quite cheap if hes still doing them, so its worth looking in on him. I'd also recomend giving MPG (www.midpointgarage.co.uk) in middlewich a quick bell and enquire how much they are charging. Ian at MPG is excellent with the z22se engine, his own 2.2 has been somwhat extensivly modified.
