Suping up a 1.6 SXI!!! Saxo VTR's flying past??

Sorry to flood with another thread!!

Basically is there anyway I can supe up a 1.6 SXI? Seeming to lack a bit of power, it is actually losing oil at the moment, but I am changing the engine next week, and I think putting another 1.6 is going to be the outcome anyways! But basically is there anything I can do whilst getting the engine in to give it more power and quicker acceleration?

    Many thanks!

Astra 1.6s aren't the fastest things on the road mate so I doubt you're losing any power. Saxo VTRs will be faster as they're 1.6 16v engines too. If you consider the power to weight ratio, the saxo has the same size engine but is half the size.

Power to weight is the issue really...

You can tune the 1.6 16v to 150bhp+ if you have the money, but that'll be a full exhaust/manifold swap with sports cat, cams, uprated inlet manifold, usual intake mods and then a remap...talking upwards of £3000 to see all that done, if not a bit more.

    i thought VTR's were 8v, and only the VTS's were 16v.

Do the usual breathing mods, induction ad exhaust

Yeah VTR's are only an 8v.
Be easier to make the Astra lighter than it would be to make it more powerful.
