    Quick break in england

So I've got next week booked off and was going to go abroad for a few days but have had to pay out a load of cash on one thing or another so will have to be a couple of nights somewhere in England.

I live in south London so really want to get out into the countryside and chill out. Would be going with the mrs and we're both quite into mountain biking, hiking, outdoors stuff really.

So can someone please recommend me somewhere decent to go and stay!

    Places Im thinking of are

    Lake district
    Peak district
    Cotswolds
    New forest

Not knowing these areas I don't know where the best place to stay would be within the area so would appreciate some guidance on this from anyone who knows the area well.

Lake district looks really nice but would cost quite a bit in petrol and from what I've seen hotels in Windermere are not cheap!

Whats the Peak district like? looks stunning as well from pics on google images but I have no idea where are the best bits of the area or where we should stay?

We went to Wales and Cornwall last year so would prefer to go somewhere different.

Cheers for link mate looks nice.

I was thinking cotswolds would be good as its not too far away from me - only about 100 miles.

Where would you say is the best place to stay and nicest places to go to in cotswolds?

Scott - Lake district would be my first choice mate but think it might work out too expensive being a 6 hour drive each way. Hotels seem expensive round there as well. Best place to stay in Lake district?

Bourton-on-the-water is quite nice. Most other places in the Cotswolds I have to work in, which makes you look at them in a different way lol.
