Soz to be a bit of an arse about the private plates but...

Unanswered in the other, which wasn't really about where do you buy them from, so i'll ask....

Where do you get them made up so they're legal?

I can find any amount of website that'll make them up, but you stick in your plate number & you can put spaces wherever you like for e.g. & i'm wanting it to be legal as i'm not really a fan of taking risks.

I believe Halfords do them, but would rather just order online tbh. No idea of what Halfords charge as can't find anything on their website.

I've read that aside from the GB logo & country flags, there's no logo having on the left.

Fancy a border, as i think they look a bit bland without.

Did want to put the post code in which the car is located at the bottom, but believe you're supposed to have seller details there.

    I've seen a range of about £10 - £30+

so where do you go to get them legal? & how do you know where the appropriate spacing goes etc?

    Ta

I don't know that you can anymore anyway since you have to produce proof of ownership for the plates and you can't do that online I don't know how you would do that online.

If you know someone that works at a car sales garage, they could get one made up foc ;-) The machine we used where i used to work had different options, size, style, border. I decided to have "Simmons" under the Reg. Not quite as flashy as a personalised number plate but it was free. lol.
    For free hugs PM me.

Ah right i see. Hmm, so i have no real choice then other than to go to the local Halfords & have them make it up. Bit sh!t that.

Tried the DVLA website for local plate making places but it's shocking. Tried the town name, the post code, both, but it brings no results.

Just search eBay for show plates. Nearly all of them offer the standard text/font with the proper GB euro flag. You could also have a slogan as well.

V V V V V unlikely you will get pulled over or anything IMO if you have the legal font/size/spacing

just ask at your local motor factors/suppliers

    standard spacing is :
    ABC 123X
    X123 ABC
    AB51 ABC

should cost about £15 a pair

you should need to show your V5 to get them made up (anti-cloning legistlation) but depends how flexible your supplier is!

they should have the suppliers post code on the bottom of the plate in case of any "issues" with the legality of using them on the road

Go to any motor factors - Halfords, A1 motor stores, whatevers local, you'll pay through the nose for them and take your V5 with you !

Hmm, i'm not liking that one!!

Did a bit of google searching & found that you just get a warning for your first 2 offfences really, according to some police website

I'm not after anything attention seeking (screw in wrong place, silly fonts etc)

If just a simple one-space after the number will suffice then i may roll with that...

X## XXX for example, where there's just 1 space between the last # and the next letter.

    Here's a better one......

where did YOU guys get your plates?

If i'm going to pay daft money at Halfords, i'm not after that. If i get a warning for the bordering or whatever, then i'll just change them

Stay legal, I've been stopped my times than I can rememer for having show plates on but now they are really cracking down and its a fine on the spot if you get stopped by a traffic officer, or it may just be a trip to the Mot station if your lucky.

Nothing the matter with the plates above i've got them on mine now

I had mine done by a friend at a car dealership.

I wouldn't rely on getting warnings first. They are doing a lot of fines on plates at present around here at least. It's easy money for them.
