    MAP Sensor.

Be a car dislexic Can I clean the MAP sensor and would this help.

I have a V reg 1.6 16v Though I think it has a Z series engine as it was replaced after the con rod went throught the block.

The issue is the uneven idle 800-1500 revs.

There is no ICV to to clean.

On taking the black air flow pipes off the smaill pipe had loads of a yellow/green snot like jelly that smells of petrol.

PS I am a cheap skate and look for the cheapest fix.

I have seen threads about breather pipes.

Where are they what do they look like?

On my Ford they call it a MAF the it seems to be called a MAP on a Vauxhall. (I think). May be it is the same thing again I know very little about the inner workings of a combustion engine.

You have a MAP sensor and its located on the scuttle over the power steering pump..and you should have a ICV unless it was converted to FLY BY WIRE.
Breather pipes connect the rocker cover to inlet tract and need to be kept clean

    Thanks
alan geh The engine was exchanged in 2003 and I have read that Z series engines do not have an ICV. I have checked and there is definately not on present.
How do I check the engine series?
