    just removed resonator

well i was bored this morning so thought id hack away at my intake pipe.

out came the saw and off came the resonator. then i had to think of a way to block up the big hole. dont need to do the smaller one if you cut it in the right place. anyway after serching for something in my shed for ages i came across a spray can lid so i cut it down to size and it slotted right on with a tight fit. also used some strong glue.

heres a pic. not very good as used phone.

after puting it back together and taking it for a drive i didnt really notice much, did feel smoother pulling away tho. why?

just wondered who else has done this and have you noticed any change??

been wanting to do this on my MK5 but not too sure what the effects are. The VX mechanic told me not too as it will effect the engine management.

would be good to see what effects you get mate. keep us posted

Steve did you ever get a rolling road test done once the exhaust was fixed? You lost loads of torque on the result you posted but I don't know how much of that was down to the exhaust? I pulled 117bhp/131ftlbs from a Z16XE with no inlet manifold changes at all, just the usual intake mods and catback.

what an extra 17ish bhp with intake mods and catback.. damm that is good. so is the standard exhaust really that restricted??
