    Start of a boot build

Kinda says it all in the thread title really, started to build up the install in my boot yesterday evening while the weather was nice, but due to the unforseen problems with an uneven boot floor on my Mk3 I could not get any further untill i got some more timber from work

So far this is how it stands, however i still need to get some carpet, and make the plate for the amp to mount to (side on), the timber is 50 x 50 PSE with 18mm mdf ontop. at the moment its in the first fix stage, but to get it there was a nightmare, originally I used the boot carpet as a template, however it proved impossible to fit the MDF like that due to its shape, so I had to cut it to fit, so decided to make the wheel well accesable

    Looks tidy so far

By the look of the RCA's I'm guessing you've gone for the Fusion sub.

Keep the pics coming when you get more progress

that is where you will be wrong my friend...

Its just a fusion wiring kit, the Sub however is a JBL GT4 12" and the Amp an Alpine MRD-M300, hopefully at some point I will get my Vibe Blackbox to power the Infinity components I have, though currently only have the tweeters fitted ( http://www.astraownersclub.com/vb/sh...d.php?t=159208), and with a little bit of modding, I should be able to get the other pair of 13cm Infinity components to fit into the rear quarters

thats a good question John, I thought that myself, however, when the wheel comes out, that polystyrene caddy thing slides down into the well, giving easy access to the tools, but I doubt i will use them, as normaly I almost always carry a 2t trolley jack and a quality multi fit wheel brace

Looks a good start to me mate. If your trimming it - take into account the thickness of the material

    thanks for the reply's guys.
Tom, dunna worry mate, they will be gone, well as best as I can get them out, but for now, since they are gonna be gettin dirty with moving it all in and out, it wont be just yet

Fred666 - Good point, however since I havent got the carpet yet, but when its trimmed it should look tidy, will be using Autoleads spray adhesive, which to be fair, is good stuff, as I have used it a few times before in the past

A little bit of an update

Although this is only a day or so after my last post, I have got a little further with the build, though I must admit it is nothing special.
I purchased a new Autoleads sub box (1.25 Cuft) and although it isn't the right colour for the boot carpet, it doesn't really matter as I would be hard pushed to find one the right colour. I re made the left hand side section, as the one I made first time around wasnt quite right, as there was a section where I ran out of board, and so it was missing, I also decided against where I was going to mount the amp, which was side on, as it meant that I would have to spend ages messing around cutting and shaping the mdf, and I would loose the functionality of the boot light, I also made a cut out for the wires in the new panel, and so far this is how it stands.
I am just waiting for the carpet to cover it all, from Ebay
