If your car is different in any way from the way it left the factory then it's 'modified'.

Surely when you got the insurance they asked you "is your car modified from standard?"

You should have said "yes, i havent got the normal bumpers on, they've been changed for irmscher ones"

some did, some didnt, but it left the showroom/factory with them so in your eyes it is standard, with which i totally agree with you!

They aren't standard and so they should be declared - my mk5 design came with 18xp alloys and a spoiler - it left the show room with them but they aren't standard - its declared otherwise the insurance won't cover to replace them...

If you had a copy of the advert when you bought the car you could try arguing - I doubt it would get you far but worth a try if you have it. Otherwise its pay up time mate - its harsh but you'll not forgot to insure the extras next time.
