Unhappy Astra 888 Z20LET Emissions high open loop problem

My car still will not pass the Fast Idle emissions test due to high CO/running rich.

Tech 2 reporting it running only in open loop, won't close so wont run on variable map.

    Any ideas?

Before you ask, both lamdas checked, cat checked, AFM checked, CTS replaced.

I am thinking either fuel pressure issue or blocked fuel return or even engine temperature sensor issue. Apparently engine may have two coolant temperature sensors. Failing that the heater on my front lamda may be faulty or the wiring to it.

Help, I do not want my car to turn in to a money pit or I will stop loving it and turn to the darkside! lol

It should be running on closed loop once the vehicle has warmed up, open loop is only used when the lambda isnt hot enough to work effectively.

IIRC from your last thread you used a cheap downstream** lambda I think that may be your problem.

    edit: Sorry meant Upstream

It is a £70 from LMF. A Dealer has tried a new genuine lambda and reported the same settings which is why they put it back in. I am thinking lambda heater problem or even wiring to the lambda at fault. Rich conditions can also prevent it going closed loop.

Hmm very strange then, Tech2 didnt specifiy anything else just that the cars stuck in open loop? Not sure how youd go about testing wiring but perhaps this should be the next step. Sorry I cant help more.

Pentagon have found issue with earth. Tried aux earths which brough emissions down. They have now done the crimp fix but still no difference.

They are now saying that ecu is not routing earth properly so new ecu required. Think they are £470, ouch!
