    How To Cam/Rocker Cover Gasket . . .

Well as some of you may know I've just bought an astra coupe turbo. I bought it knowing it needed a cam cover gasket, I've ordered all the parts needed and attempted it tonight. I managed to following:

    Remove crossover pipe
    Remove spark plug cover
    Disconeect coil pack
Remove coil pack - some oil on this from the leak
    Remove the ten bolts

That is as far as I could get. For the life of me I could not get the cam cover off! What am I missing? I've tried countless searches but cannot find anything useful. Can someone give me a step by step guide to this please?

    Thanks

Just need to remove the 3 breather pipes and that should be it.

O and the cable for the cam sensor (or whatever sensor it is on the left side of the engine)

Cheers buckle, I removed the top two but forgot the bottom one, the biggest one

Also, just realised that the cambelt cover it almost "clipped" over the cam cover, does this just slide off?

Sorry, the cam cover needs removing. There are 2 torx bolts holding it on, then it lifts off. You may need to remove the airbox to get to the bolts though

Thanks again, so let me get this straight:

    - Remove crossover
    - Remove airbox
    - Remove cambelt cover
    - Remove spark plug cover
    - Remove coil pack
    - Remove cam sensor
    - Remove ten bolts

And then it should come off? Turning out to be a long winded job!

yeah thats it mate, its only the cable to the sensor though. It can be difficult to unplug it, but try with long nosed pliers and it will come off.

Few pictures in here when I did mine ages ago if its any use

That link is a great help mate! I think I might try an write a how-to on it seeing as it's a common fault and couldn't find anything on it!

    Thanks for the help!

I won't be able to even do this until Friday, but will let you know how I get on and take some pictures.

Tim, if I do not remove the airbox surely I will not be able to remove the cambelt cover.
