Ideas for 21st (possibly the ring)

    Hi all,

I turn 21 in september and am looking at some ideas on what i can do.

My main idea is going to the ring for the weekend.

Birthday is on the saturday and i have the weekend off work so could go friday do the ring on sat come back sun.

What sort of costs are involded aka how much to drive on the ring? Doesit cost to spectate? Costs to travel other than petrol?

    Cheers or the advice

    Matt

Hi mate, I've been loads of times in the last couple of years and highly recommend a trip over there!

Nurburg is about 300 miles from Calais so depending on where you live it's not a huge journey at all.

I usually try to get a ferry from Dover to Dunkerque becuase the ferry prices seem to be a bit cheaper (usually about £40-50 return), and it's slightly closer to Nurburg. Ferry crossing takes 90mins, and all but the last 10 or so miles in Germany is on motorways so can be done in 5 hours, or less depending how much fun you have on the unrestricted autobahns

We normally go on a friday evening, get a ferry that arrives in France early saturday morning, then take it nice a slowly to Nurburg to get there for early afternoon on Saturday.

Then we spend all day Sunday at the Ring, You can buy single laps for about £12-13, or the more laps you buy in advance the cheaper they get. Spectating is free, there are viewing areas at several points around the track, we tend to spend most of the day at the track entrance.

Hope that helps but let me know if you want to know anything else mate

I wouldn't camp in September, the weather can be very changeable, can be lovely one minute, then turn very nasty in just a couple of hours, heavy rain, fog or even snow in September.

I've always stayed in hotels and paid anything between €70 and €170 per night.

http://www.hotel-an-der-nordschleife.de/hotel/ right on the track side of the Nordschleife, hotel is visible on Forza 2 but it's a short drive to Nurburg and other restaurants/bars.

http://www.dorint.com/en/conference-...quipment-eifel is right on the Nurgburgring GP circuit in Nurburg

http://www.ringhaus.com/hotel_en/public/index.php very close to the Nordschleife entrance, and is my favourite

Have a look at http://www.nurburgring.org/ for more tips.
