    Astra G 1.7DTI lacking power

    I have an X reg (2001) Astra G 1.7DTI.

I'm finding it very lacking in power (just manages a hill start in first gear) until the turbo kicks in at about 1900 revs.

Does anyone have any idea of the cause?

P.S. fiirst post so hi everyone!

Give the air flow meter a try mate. mines doing exactly the same and been told by the mechanic at work that he's pretty sure that'll be the problem. I just haven't got the pennys to spend on one this week.

Try and keep us posted if you do decide to change it, be good to find out whether it is the afm.

    chers, Chris

For future reference, I've put this video on youtube show the Error code 0100 = MAF

After searching, I found this video which demonstrates how to read the codes and this thread which gives error code translations.

I'll see if I can get the MAF replaced tomorrrow to confirm it completely (I did take it off and have a look but it looks in perfect condition)

And, just to clarify - there is no smoke associated with the problem, my research suggests that would indicate a EGR problem.

Yep, a MAF sensor sorted it (£46)

It appears it didn't completely sort it. It is much better but the acceleration has distinct plateaus throught the rev range. I alos get error 0370 which appears to be a non-error or symptom of an ecu fault.

mines done the same. i've just changed the afm and has made quite a difference, but it still isn't as it should be.

revs pause at low range sometimes and other times, turbo doesn't kick in.

    anyone any other ideas???

    cheers

The only reference I've seen is to a dodgy solder connection on the ECU. It does feel like something of that nature because it isn't a consistent problem.

yeh exactly. like you say, it is an intermitant problem. i just haven't got the time at the moment to get anything along these lines sorted. It's obviously not going to be a quick 5minute job.

like before, i'd love to find out exactly what the problem is, so keep us posted if you do decide to go further with it. i could do with peace of mind because it does your head in when its fine 1second and nothing their the next.

    cheers, Chris
