    Exclamation Help fitting HIDs!

    Hi guys!

Is there anyone in London or around the area or in/near Essex that can help me fit my HID lights!

    I've got an Astra MK5 '54 plate SXi 1.7CDTI

I've had my HIDs for a while now and have been trying to get them fitted but i'm running into a lot of problems! If there is anyone out there that has done it, would they be willing to lend a helping hand? I will travel down to you and bring whatever tools i have with me!

    Thanks in advance guys!!

    Hi ya,

    What problems have you got?

Have you got the correct kit for your car?

Loads of members have fiited kits to their cars, post up your problems to see if someone can help.

Well the main problem is the MK5 astra H7 bulbs arent the simple clip in/clip out...they're fitted on with a bracket and this bracket doesn't seem to fit around the HID bulbs that I've got for my car...also...the reflector is gettin in the way of the tip of the HID bulb so it doesnt sit flush in the actual light fitting...

    any ideas?

I believe its the same fitting as a vectra.. they will fit as i have fitted them to a vectra!

You need to look at the back of the headlight where the bulb goes in and you will see 2 screws.. you need to undo them around half a turn as a HID bulb has a thicker base plate on it than a standard H7 bulb so this will compensate for it.
Also the wires and bulb will fit in the holder. You just need to push the bulb connection through and needs a bit of force!

The main problem you may run into is them not working with your car due to you having a CANBUS wiring system which i believe is fitted to all MK5's. They will be fine until you turn the engine on then they will cut out unless you have bought ones that are CANBUS compatable.

    Hope this helps
