    Isolated Wall plates for aerials

Quick questions, why would these be used over non-isolated, in my living room it is non-isolated but in my bedroom it is isolated which stops my sky magic eye from receving power, so ive taken the wall plate off and put a connector on the end of the cable and all is fine, im going to take this wall plate into work on monday and just modify it so its a non-isolated one and will work with my magic eye.

Anyone got any ideas why they used an isolated one in the first place?

    Cheers.

The isolated ones would be used on a communal aerial system, to prevent shock hazards between houses/flats/apartments.
Older TV's had whats known as a "Hot chassis", i.e. the set was not electrically isolated from the incoming mains. In cases where the was a failure with the sets aerial socket isolation it could put the aerial system "Live". Last thing you want is to get a leathal shock because of someone else's faulty TV.

Probably been fitted as that's what the spark had to hand when doing the job.
