    Thumbs Up new member/need some help

    Hello members, just to put you in the picture, i have a Astra 1.7 td mk3 1995 N reg, with the izusu engine, i have recently had a new alternator fitted as the battery / ignition light was staying on all the time/ guess what its still on with the new one, i have been told that the relay blows if there is a fault / with alternator, is this case , and if so where is it located on the car and what colour is the plug, i have been told it as 5 or 6 wirers on it, your help would be appreciated asap thanks mindelo.........

    Welcome to the club,
    sorry to hear about your problems,

    i didn't know there was a relay, as Mark said someone should be able to clarify that later but for now,

    make sure that you've got your radio code,

    then go to the fuse boxes and start pulling then replacing fuses 1 by 1 whilst checking to see if the light goes out.

    do the same with the relays.

    if the light goes out, you have found the circuit where the fault is.

    something must be backfeeding and lighting up the battery/ignition dash warning lights, which would normally be the Alternator

    have you checked that the new Alternator is ok? it could be faulty l
    is it charging?--check it--then

    Disconnect the plug/connection from the back of the Alternator to see if the light goes out.

    do you ever experience problems starting the car of getting a flat battery or is it purely the fact that the light is on as it would be a simple electrical fault
