Outled Manifold Bolt broke off :(.

    A new issue

My outlet manifold Bolt has broken off : see picture :

Does anyone know what's the best way to solve this?
Could i drill a small hole into the bolt an attach something to it so i could turn it off?

    Any ideas please

you need to drill a hole and use an easy-out, which may also snap, failing that drill it out to the biggest diameter possible without damaging the block threads and try and colapse the remaining threads in on themselves with small chisel etc, and then easy-out, done it on a bigger scale before. but that's a lot smaller and kinda awkward to get into

good luck, hope some more suggestions come along soon

these are easy outs just in case you're not sure what i mean

    Thanks for the info Phil,

I'll try and do it somewhere next week.

I need a new turbo as manifold is completly wrong on mine (that's probably the reason the bolt broke off).

I'll order an VXR unit from Courtney. and i'll keep u all informed.

    Thanks for the info.

Why does nearly every bolt snap it that place on the turbo's there must be some reason this happens????? Anyway I had to drill the bolt out in the centre and then use a helicoil kit to repair the thread, they are about £20. I'm sure there are also people who can come out to repair it on site from the yellow pages but i'm not sure what they are called. Someone will shine some light on the matter

    John,
It's probably due to the manifold not centered when tightened for first time...
    Seems to happen alot...

Also when i removed the turbo for the first time, i noticed that some screws were not tightened.

Seems Vaux is losing their minds :P

    Stud Extractor

Same thing happened to me, i ended up using a stud extractor which is basically a reversiblt drill bit so that as you drill into the stud it screws into the stud in the oposit way and ends up unscrewing the bold end.

Take a look at my post:

p.s. the kit cost about a tenner from machine mart, better than paying £400 to get the head drilled!!!

This was exactly the same studd as yours, i ended up removing the radiator to get the drill access.
