    STILL leaking coolant

Changed water pump, thermostat and im still losing liquid..

Cant see any puddles under the car but a full tank of coolant will be gone in about a week!

Still need a new coolant sensor but I doubt this would affect it? Anywhere know where the sensor is on a z18xe and how easy it is to change?

And any ideas on the coolant?

Have you had the coolant system pressure tested? My radiator was leaking a few years back but the leak was so small it was never noticed unless the engine was hot and even then it was a teeny tiny leak.

A pressure test was done on mine to source the leaking item.

    i think alexm could right.

it does sound like a headgasket problem.

the sensor wont affect it at all.

i think the sensor is park of the thermostat, i think you have to take the thermostat off to replace the sensor

you been having any misfireing upon start up after a few hours of not using the car? if so get a garage to do a head gasket test for you. its free (well at the garage i use they do it for free)

Better yet for peice of mind might as well asked them next time your free

    If not headgasket
You prob wont see puddles as it might of evapourated by the time you get to the car. so also checked underneath the radiator to see any signs of crystalised coolant on the rad itself or what ever else beneeath it.

a friend of mind changed his thermostat and it was leaking from there, have a look at the thermostat housing and see if there's and dried coolant there too.

hmm sometimes itll struggle to start but in a sort of dodgy battery way, usually only if ive drained it a bit before too but starts up fine after being left.

Im yet to master getting my bumper off so ill try doing that and have a good snoop!

Also, dare I ask headgasket cost? Any is there any other determinable symptoms of HGF?

erm my headgasket cost me £450

but i was lucky really some places do it £550+

well another symptom would be that when you open the coolant container it reaks of petrol or something similar lol

another one would be if your stood still your tempreture rises very quickly but once you start moving, it goes back down to normal quickly too.... but that also means there's no coolant though.

the symptons i had was that one of my cylinder was missfiring and thats because the coolant slowly leaked into the cylinder so on start up it made the spark plug wet causing it to misfire. thats all i know i'm afriad

    any luck finding out?

the easiest way to get underneath the car is take it up the garage and ask if they can check underneath the car for signs of coolant leak its usually free as its only a 3 minute job and the HGF test is usually free if you ask for it lol

but jsut incase have a fiver ready though
