oh my days.. rusting on the roof

    Hi all

Basically i was cleaning my car other day and i came across this....

which is.. the clips that cover the fixings for roof bars... obviously im abit niffed as the car is only 7 years old and rusting is already occuring(sp) and i dont want it to stop like it much longer so.........

are these covers easy to remove and are they expensive to buy?? or is it a pop down the scrappy job (probably)

    all help appreciated

    Matt

    Thats not your roof .
Pick i new rail from a scrappy,Ebay or classifieds on here m8,shouldnt cost much atall, most Astra's have that .

EDIT: they just pull off m8,about 6 or 7 clips....Just lift from the back (straight up) & work your way foward.Takes about 10 secs to remove & another 10 secs to refit...Take both mine off every week when i clean the car

If you think that's bad look in your rear arches.

I bet it's rusty already, why do you think GSi's have arch spats?

i know, i just wanted to make the thread seem dramatic lol

are they a ******* to fit at all??? the run is turning greyish as u can and the other side is the similar in colour from the weathering stuff, so if i buy 1 i may aswell get the other side and replace them both togeter

just dont want an arsehole of a job on my hands lol

    edited in response to sriTaff:

ah right lol on that case that no probs lol, i'll have to sly off to my local scrappy sometime this week and see whats there lol, the scrappy by me is good tho, they 'trust' me and let me work on the wreckages myself so, if theres anything that catches my attention i just sly them off and hide them somewhere for aquisition later lol

nah i check/jet wash the archs regularly and suprisingly their ok, saying that my cars only done 51k miles so the archs havnt had that much abuse from wet, rolling wheels lol and hopefully it'll be on its next owners shoulders by the time that happens lol

You can get rust deposits sitting on plastic. Tap water contains metal particles and can form deposits that rust. Might just be a case of cleaning it off.

EDIT - but having looked at the picture it is rusty metal. I should look before I post...
